Just short of 200 athletes from 62 countries came to Manama, Bahrain to compete in the 62nd IFBB Men’s World Champs, with the hopes of winning the prestigious Mr Universe title. Hosted by the Bahrain IFBB Committee, this prestigious event is hosted annually and is one of the highlights of the IFBB Bodybuilding Calendar.

The Bahrain International Exhibition Centre hosted the final of the 62nd World Men’s Amateur Bodybuilding Champs. Situated in the heart of Manama, it seated a capacity audience of close to 10 000, creating an atmosphere of excitement unforgettable to competitors and spectators alike.

The Championships was a great success for the hosting country which received no less than 4 top 6 places and placed 3rd in the Overall Country Standings. Hosted for the first time by a middle-east country, there was a spirit of fierce yet friendly rivalry between competitors and spectators alike as each person backed their winner.

Special mention must be made of South African Team members Shameen Adams and Johannes Hendriks who placed 3rd in the welterweight and 4th in the bantamweight categories respectively.
